The Guilbault Girls Show
“It takes a village to raise a child” ~African Proverb ~
Welcome to the Guilbault Girls Show where you will have the opportunity to hear from mothers, fathers, siblings, and individuals themselves about their journey of living with a disability. We also have special guests on to share the many resources that are available to those living with a disability and their families. So, get ready to laugh, smile, cry, maybe even get a little angry when you hear some of these stories of their day-to-day struggles, but let’s not forget their many triumphs.
I know when I was a new mom, and my child was diagnosed with a disability I felt lost and alone and wondered what comes next. I learned from the ones that came before me and I want to be able to continue to share that knowledge and support to others.
As they say it takes a village, and if it weren’t for our village we wouldn’t be where we are today. So, will you help be that village, help us spread awareness, help us change mindsets, help us teach other's to be kind to one another…. well you can do that by simply sharing our show to the masses.

The Guilbault Girls Show
Awarding-Winning Children’s Book Author and Wordsmith Maggie van Galen on her King's Day Out Series
Welcome to the Guilbault Girls Show where you will have the opportunity to hear from mothers, fathers, siblings, and individuals themselves about their journey of living with a disability.
In this episode we had the pleasure of interviewing Maggie van Galen.
Maggie is the author of two children’s book series -- The Adventures of Keeno & Ernest and King’s Day Out. All three books in the Keeno & Ernest series have received the nationally acclaimed Mom’s Choice Awards® among other individual awards. Her latest series, King’s Day Out, is co-written with a doctor of pediatric occupational therapy, and together they have broadened their scope to form a business with a mission of empowering children as they navigate life’s adventures. King’s Day Out LLC will incorporate books, resources and activities.
Maggie’s favorite thing about being a children’s author is reading to children. She has read to more than 4,000 kids and “hasn’t lost one yet!” (Her personal claim to fame) Maggie also offers classroom and private sessions on writing which can tie in with a lesson plan and/or a specific theme.
Maggie grew up in northern Michigan. She graduated from Michigan State University with a BA in Advertising and a minor in creative writing. After spending more than 10 years climbing the corporate ladder, Maggie decided to put her passion for writing to the forefront. She began writing for local newspapers and published a book of poetry. In 2000, Maggie and her husband moved to London where she worked at The Economist. After starting her family a few years later, the children’s stories began to flow and her new career began.
Maggie lives in a small town north of Boston with her husband, two sons, a cat and their Bernese Mountain Dog, Koning (Dutch for King!).

Travel along with King, a Bernese Mountain Dog puppy, and his friends as they experience, observe, and grow through new experiences together.
Each story introduces a new adventure, the sensory challenges that can be associated with it, and some tools to help overcome any fears and anxieties. Whether a child benefits from OT-specific strategies or from learning by successfully regulating unfamiliar experiences, these books can support all children as they navigate new adventures.
As they say it takes a village, and you can help be a part of that village, simply sharing our show to the masses to spread awareness, change mindsets, and help teach other's to be kind to one another.
